Connect OpenBoxes Lift to the rest of your stack
These connect today: the REST API, the Reporting API, the scheduled CSV export, Power BI and Excel through a Power Query recipe, Looker Studio through a CSV file you upload by hand, signed webhooks, daily stock alerts by email, PagerDuty incidents and Slack and Microsoft Teams messages for stock-outs (the alerts on Shared and Dedicated instances alike), and your monthly stock report sent to your own DHIS2 server. Everything else on this page is either being built or would start when someone asks for it, and this page says which, honestly, for each one.
What "coming soon" means here: we are building it and it is not available yet. We do not publish dates, quarters or months, and nothing is promised for a particular day.
Available today
The REST API and webhooks are on every plan, including the free trial; stock alerts by email, the weekly stock summary, PagerDuty stock-out incidents and Slack and Microsoft Teams stock-out messages are on every plan, on Shared and Dedicated instances alike; so is the monthly stock report to DHIS2. Handheld scanning is in beta: Look up, receiving, picking and shipping on every plan.
Three more things are real and on every plan but are not integrations, so they are not cards here: third-party sign-in on your instance login page (Google, Microsoft and GitHub; individual sign-in, not company sign-in (SSO)), the one-time data import we run when you move onto Lift, and the Reports page in the portal (stock value, stock-outs, expiring lots, open purchase orders and activity from a daily check, with CSV downloads).
Reporting API
The Reports page figures (stock on hand, value, expiring lots, open orders and activity) as flat datasets in JSON or CSV, read with an API key. From our daily check, with its own allowance of 600 requests an hour.
Scheduled CSV export
A zip of your report data every day, week or month. We email a link to the portal to each teammate who turns it on.
Power BI and Excel
A Power Query recipe you paste into Power BI Desktop or Excel. It reads the Reporting API with an API key and refreshes when you refresh. The Power BI connector is coming soon.
Looker Studio
By hand today: upload a scheduled export CSV file with Google's CSV file upload connector. Nothing refreshes by itself. The Looker Studio connector is coming soon.
Daily stock alerts
Once a day, an email about stock below minimum or nearing expiry, to the account owner and the teammates ticked in the panel. The below-minimum half covers only products with a minimum set at that location; the nearing-expiry half does not use minimum levels. Shared and Dedicated instances alike.
Weekly stock summary
Every Monday, an email about the week before: stock-outs, below minimum, expiring lots, stock value, open purchase orders and activity. Each person turns it on for themselves; values go to the account owner and admins only.
PagerDuty
An incident in your PagerDuty service when a product with a minimum set runs out of stock at a location, found by the same once-a-day check. Stock-outs only: below-minimum and nearing-expiry stay in the daily email. Shared and Dedicated instances alike.
Slack
A message in a Slack channel, through an incoming webhook from a Slack app, when a product with a minimum set runs out of stock at a location, found by the same once-a-day check, and one "stock returned" message when stock comes back. Stock-outs only: below-minimum and nearing-expiry stay in the daily email. Shared and Dedicated instances alike.
Microsoft Teams
A card in a Teams channel, through a Workflows webhook you create in Teams, when a product with a minimum set runs out of stock at a location, found by the same once-a-day check, and one "stock returned" card when stock comes back. Stock-outs only: below-minimum and nearing-expiry stay in the daily email. Shared and Dedicated instances alike.
Email to outside addresses
The same daily stock-alert email to an address that is not a user on your account (a supplier or a contractor), once the account owner adds it and it confirms a 6-digit code. Up to five per account, each with its own unsubscribe link.
DHIS2
Your monthly stock report (balances, receipts, consumption, losses and days out of stock) sent to your DHIS2 server.
Handheld scanning
OpenBoxes Lift Mobile: look up stock, receive and pick and ship by scanning barcodes, in Chrome on a phone or handheld. It works the same on every plan: on Shared, Dedicated and Enterprise, all of it is in beta. Included on every plan at no extra charge during the beta.
Temperature logger files
Upload the files from Berlinger Fridge-tag 2L loggers (now sold by Sensitech), Fridge-tag readouts made with the free Varo app, LogTag loggers (CSV or TXT from LogTag Analyzer) and other CSV files you map once. Or connect Monnit Temperature and Thermocouple sensors, The Things Stack, ChirpStack or your own system (Lift JSON), with temperature alerts by email, Slack, Teams or PagerDuty. See each fridge's temperatures and excursions next to the OpenBoxes location it is in. Included on every plan at no extra charge during the beta. Lift shows a copy of your logger's record. Use your logger's own record for decisions about your vaccines and medicines, and for inspections. Lift is not a validated system.

The four ERP connectors (Business Central, NetSuite, SAP Business One and Odoo) have a page of their own that says what they will do and what works today instead. When they arrive, the ERP connectors and the QuickBooks Online connection will be included in the plan price on the Dedicated and Enterprise plans. They will not be offered on the Shared plan.

Stock alerts are included on your plan
Stock alerts are part of the plan you are already on; there is no alerts add-on to buy. They are an email you opt into: once a day, shortly after 7am in your instance's timezone, we check for stock below minimum and lots nearing expiry and email the account owner and the teammates ticked in the panel. The send hour is fixed. This is not real time: nothing is sent the moment stock drops. They are available on Shared and Dedicated instances alike. What decides is where your instance actually runs, not the plan name. If we are moving your instance between tiers, alerts keep running on the shared fleet until the move and resume on the new server once the move is complete; the daily check may not run on the days the move is in progress.
One thing to know: the low-stock half reads the minimum level you already set in OpenBoxes (the reorder point is not used), so a product with no minimum set at that location is never reported as below minimum, however low it gets. Lift adds no second place to configure it. If you set no minimums, you will never be told anything is low. The nearing-expiry half does not use minimum levels at all: it looks only at how close a lot is to its expiry date, so an instance with no minimums still gets an email on any day a lot falls inside the window. It lists stock approaching expiry; a lot already past its expiry date is not listed. Every email says how many of your products have a minimum set, so a short email is never mistaken for a clean bill of health.
We cut long lists sensibly: at most 50 rows per location in each section and 200 rows in one email overall, keeping the largest shortfalls in the below-minimum section and the lots closest to expiry in the expiring section, and always state the true total when there is more than we show. OpenBoxes also shows low stock in the app: minimum, reorder and maximum levels per product and location, the Reorder Report, and the dashboard's Below reorder and Below minimum groupings. The email complements those views rather than replacing them. Every alert carries an unsubscribe link that stops that one address. PagerDuty, Slack and Microsoft Teams are available too, for stock-outs only: an incident opens in PagerDuty, or a message is posted to a Slack channel or a Teams channel, when a product with a minimum set runs out at a location, and below-minimum and nearing-expiry never go to any of them as alerts (a Slack or Teams channel ticked for the weekly summary gets only their counts, once a week). Stock thresholds are still not a webhook event.
