Portal Overview

The OpenBoxes Lift portal at app.openboxes.cloud is your command center for managing your OpenBoxes deployment. From here you can monitor your instance, manage users, handle billing, and launch directly into OpenBoxes with a single click.

Dashboard

When you sign in, the dashboard gives you an at-a-glance view of everything that matters.

Instance Status

The top of the dashboard shows your OpenBoxes instance status with a clear indicator:

Status Meaning
Running Your instance is live and accessible
Provisioning Your instance is being set up (typically takes 2-5 minutes)
Stopped Your instance has been stopped and is not accessible
Maintenance A scheduled update or migration is in progress

Usage Summary

Below the status indicator, you will see a summary of your current resource usage:

  • Users --- How many active users you have versus your plan limit
  • Storage --- How much database storage your instance is consuming
  • Plan --- Your current subscription tier

Quick Actions

The dashboard provides one-click shortcuts for common tasks:

  • Launch OpenBoxes --- Opens your OpenBoxes instance in a new tab
  • Invite User --- Jump straight to user invitations
  • View Invoice --- See your most recent billing statement
  • Get Support --- Open a support request

The portal sidebar organizes everything into four main sections.

Instance

View details about your OpenBoxes deployment, including your subdomain URL, instance status, current OpenBoxes version, and resource usage. This is also where you can start or stop your instance and manage your subdomain.

Users

Manage who has access to your Lift account and OpenBoxes instance. Invite new users by email, assign roles, and remove users who no longer need access. See Managing Users for details.

Billing

View and manage your subscription plan, payment methods, and invoices. Compare plans, upgrade or downgrade your tier, and download past invoices. See Billing & Plans for details.

Settings

Configure account-level settings including:

  • Organization name --- Displayed in your portal and invoices
  • Notification preferences --- Control which email notifications you receive
  • SSO configuration --- Connect external identity providers [Dedicated] [Enterprise]
  • Security settings --- Password policies, session timeouts, and IP allowlisting [Enterprise]

Launching OpenBoxes

One of the key benefits of Lift is seamless access to your OpenBoxes instance. When you click Launch OpenBoxes from the dashboard (or the instance page), here is what happens behind the scenes:

  1. The portal verifies your active session with Keycloak SSO
  2. A secure handoff token is generated
  3. You are redirected to your OpenBoxes instance at your-subdomain.openboxes.cloud
  4. OpenBoxes recognizes the token and logs you in automatically

You never need to enter a second set of credentials. One login to the portal gives you access to everything.

Your Instance URL

Every Lift account gets a custom subdomain:

https://your-company.openboxes.cloud

You choose your subdomain during signup. It can be changed later from the Instance settings page (subject to availability).

Getting Started

If you have just signed up, here is a recommended first-steps checklist:

  1. Check your dashboard --- Confirm your instance status shows "Running"
  2. Launch OpenBoxes --- Click through to verify you can access your instance
  3. Invite your team --- Add colleagues from the Users section
  4. Review your plan --- Make sure your tier matches your needs
  5. Set up SSO --- If you are on Dedicated or Enterprise, connect your identity provider
