What shipped in October 2026

Here is what reached customers in October 2026: the AI assistant in OpenBoxes, launched on October 1, draft stock requests and stock changes made with it, handheld scanning, cold chain, and choosing the OpenBoxes locations each teammate works at. It also covers monthly DHIS2 reporting and teammate roles in OpenBoxes, which reached customers just after our previous entry.
The AI assistant in OpenBoxes#
Ask about stock, expiry dates and stock movements in plain words, at the locations you can open. Included on Shared: 100 questions a month once your account owner turns it on in the portal.
The launch post shows what it answers and how it keeps your data safe. You can also try it on the public demo.

Draft stock requests with the AI assistant#
The AI assistant can now prepare a draft stock request into your current location. Nothing changes until you click Confirm, and the draft is never submitted. Off until your account owner turns it on in the portal; no extra charge.
Ask "Request 20 Gauze from the Main Warehouse for here", check the draft the assistant shows, and click Confirm. It is listed in OpenBoxes as Pending until someone finishes it. It works for people whose OpenBoxes role at that location is Assistant or above, and every confirmed change is listed in the portal under Changes made with the assistant. How draft stock requests work.

Stock changes with the AI assistant#
The AI assistant can now receive shipments, enter and submit cycle counts, and record stock quantities. Nothing changes until you click Confirm. Each is off until your account owner turns it on; no extra charge. Dedicated gets draft stock requests, receiving and cycle counts too.
Ask "Receive the shipment from the Main Warehouse" or "Enter the counts: gauze 40, syringes 0", check the preview the assistant shows, and click Confirm. You can receive a whole shipment or part of it. A stock change is always made at your current OpenBoxes location, and the assistant cannot undo it: if one was wrong, a person with the right permissions corrects it in OpenBoxes. Your account owner turns each kind on under Let the assistant change stock on the portal's AI assistant page, after agreeing to the terms for stock changes. Receiving and cycle counts work for people whose OpenBoxes role at that location is Assistant or above, and recording stock quantities for Manager or above. Recording stock quantities is available on Shared only. Every confirmed change is listed in the portal under Changes made with the assistant. Stock changes are not offered on the public demo. Handheld scanning with Lift Mobile#
Look up stock, receive shipments, and pick and ship from a phone or handheld scanner, in Chrome at your own instance address. It works the same on Shared, Dedicated and Enterprise. There is nothing to turn on, and nothing to buy while we are still testing it with customers.
Open your instance address followed by /handheld/ in Chrome on the device; there is nothing to install from an app store. What a worker sees follows their OpenBoxes role at that location: Browser can look up stock, and Assistant or above can also receive and pick. Where a location uses packing, packing and sending stay on the desktop. Each line is saved to OpenBoxes when the worker taps Save line, received stock is added when the receipt is completed, and picked stock leaves the location when the request is sent. Saving needs a connection. The account owner or an Admin can turn Look up, Receive or Pick and ship off for the site in the portal under Devices & sensors. If we find a problem, we may pause picking, saving or the whole app for a site and turn it back on once it is fixed; OpenBoxes on the desktop keeps working as usual. Cold chain: temperature loggers and sensors#
See each fridge or freezer beside its OpenBoxes location. Upload logger files or connect a sensor platform, and Lift flags excursions against the rule you choose. It is included on every plan with nothing to buy while we are still changing it as we learn from customers.
You find it in the portal under Devices & sensors, on the Sensors tab. Lift reads Berlinger Fridge-tag 2L files, the zip the Varo app makes, LogTag Analyzer CSV or TXT files, and other CSV files of readings once you say which column holds what. The account owner or an Admin can also add a connection so readings arrive by themselves from Monnit Temperature and Thermocouple sensors, The Things Stack, ChirpStack or your own system (Lift JSON); these are built to each vendor's published format. Excursions are flagged against the WHO PQS rules, any reading out of range, or your own limits, and once a logger has an alert rule, temperature alerts can go to Slack, Microsoft Teams, PagerDuty or email for the destinations and people you switch on under Integrations. Lift shows a copy of your logger's record. Use your logger's own record for decisions about your vaccines and medicines, and for inspections. Lift is not a validated system. How temperature loggers work.

Monthly stock figures sent to DHIS2#
Lift can fill in the monthly stock form on your own DHIS2 server from its daily stock check. It is one way: numbers go into DHIS2 after each month closes, and nothing comes back into OpenBoxes. Included on every plan, with no add-on.
Set it up in the portal under Integrations, on the Connections tab, with the DHIS2 tile. It needs a DHIS2 server running version 2.40 to 2.43 and a monthly form. A server our team has not approved before waits for approval before Lift contacts it. The account owner connects the server. The owner or an Admin matches your OpenBoxes locations to DHIS2 facilities and your products to the form, previews exactly what would be sent, runs a Dry run, then clicks Send to DHIS2. Only the account owner can schedule the send. Only numbers leave Lift: no names, prices or lot numbers, and Lift never overwrites a period that is already approved in DHIS2. How to send monthly figures to DHIS2.

Teammate roles and OpenBoxes locations#
A teammate's portal role (Admin, Manager, User or Viewer) now sets their role inside OpenBoxes too. Admins can manage Managers, Users and Viewers, and the account owner and Admins can choose which OpenBoxes locations each teammate works at.
Admin becomes Admin in OpenBoxes, Manager becomes Manager, User becomes Assistant and Viewer becomes Browser, and everyone opens OpenBoxes with Launch OpenBoxes in the portal. Only the account owner can make someone an Admin, and billing and the subscription stay with the owner. Managers, Users and Viewers see a read-only team list, and the owner and Admins see the last 90 days of team changes. For a Manager, User or Viewer you can pick All locations or Only these locations; the OpenBoxes location chooser then lists their locations, and some shared lists, such as products, stay visible to them. A location limit organizes who works where. It does not keep a teammate out of every other location: some details of another location can still be opened from a direct link, such as a stock movement's page. Managing users.
